The drug is marketed in more than eighty countries under the trademarks (owned by Newport Pharmaceuticals) Isoprinosine, Inmunovir and Viruxan, among others.

Isoprinosine is an immunostimulant prescribed in the treatment of several diseases with viral etiology. Particularly in eruptive childhood diseases, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, influenza, common colds, viral encephalitis and other viral illnesses that occur with immunodeficiency. It is also a drug with an excellent clinical safety profile both during short- and long-term treatments.

In 1982, Isoprinosine received the prestigious award from France, "Le Prix Galien". At the time it was considered the most important therapeutic innovation introduced in the French market that year.
